Calling Your Pinehurst Medical Internist
As a "Primary Care Physician", your Pinehurst Medical Clinic Internist and his/her staff are here to oversee all of your medical needs and to refer you to a specialist when appropriate.

When you have a question or need something, don't hesitate to call us; we're here for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Why would you need to call us? Some examples are:
  • You don't feel well
  • You have a question about a medication your Internist has prescribed
  • You have a question about something your Internist has told you.
  • It's time for your annual physical examination
  • You want to schedule an appointment with your Internist

What telephone number do I call?
Between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm (except holidays) call our offices at the number listed under the Physicians' Directory section of the web site. During all other hours, call First Health Moore Regional Hospital at (910) 715-1000 and ask for the Pinehurst Medical Clinic "On-call Internist".

When I call the office, who will answer my call?

When calling during regular business hours (8:00 am – 4:30 pm), your call will first be answered by one of our Internal Medicine secretaries. In order to ensure your call is always answered by a person (instead of voice mail) we have a team of secretaries supporting your Internist. Therefore, your call will not always be answered by the same secretary. For medical issues, the secretary will transfer your call to the Nurse Call Center*. Here, a trained nurse will speak with you in more detail and determine with you what should be done.

What if I'm not feeling well?
When you call us during regular business hours, the Call Center Nurse* will in most cases be able to offer you an appointment to see an Internist that same day. In some cases, your own Internist will be able to see you on the day of your phone call.  If this is not possible, the Call Center Nurse* can offer you an appointment to see our “on-call” Internist in the office. The Call Center Nurse* will also be able to send a message to your Internist regarding your condition.

What if I just want to speak with my Doctor or Nurse?

Our Call Center Nurse* is able to send a message to your doctor or nurse, who will then return your call.

Will I have to wait on hold when I Call?

This is an important question. The short answer is “yes”, you will probably have a short wait before speaking with a secretary or a Call Center Nurse*. In some cases, the wait could be a few minutes. While we try hard to keep the wait times as short a possible, we also want to ensure your call is always answered by a person (not voice mail) who is going to take the time to listen to you. In most cases, your call will be resolved without having to wait for a return phone call.

*The Nurse Call Center does not at this time cover phone calls made to the Neese Clinic or PMC South.
