Cara joined PMC in April 2016. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and began her career in medical social work, working as a discharge planner in an inpatient hospital in Winston Salem, NC, then a case manager in an inpatient rehab hospital in Raleigh, NC for almost 10 years. Cara later moved to Southern Pines and began working with FirstHealth Hospice for 2 years before joining PMC. At PMC, Cara conducts Annual Wellness Visits, provides emotional counseling in person and via telephone, assists patients with working through emotional barriers to weight loss, and teaches about the link between emotional and physical health. Cara uses mindful, strengths based, person centered approaches in counseling to help one move forward in their thoughts. Helping to improve one’s quality of life, whether that is providing information about a new resource or listening to a concern with an empathetic ear, is a privilege and what brings Cara joy in this position.
