Going to the bathroom more often than usual? Burning when you pee?

You might be dealing with a urinary tract infection—or UTI —and getting care quickly can prevent it from getting worse.

UTIs are common—especially in women—but they can affect anyone. Here are the signs to look out for:

  • A burning sensation when urinating
  • Frequent urge to urinate, even with little urine
  • Cloudy, dark, or strong-smelling urine
  • Pain or pressure in the lower abdomen
  • Sometimes, fever or chills—especially if the infection spreads to the kidneys

Good news—many UTIs can be prevented. Here's how:

  • Stay hydrated—drink plenty of water
  • Always wipe front to back
  • Urinate after sexual activity
  • Avoid using irritating feminine products

Not sure if it's a UTI? Don't wait. If symptoms persist, worsen, or you develop a fever, it's time to seek care.
